Most Troon homeowners get in touch with us because something has finally pushed them to act. Maybe the old doors are draughty, hard to open, or just looking tired after years of Scottish weather. Whatever the reason, the first step is straightforward. Give us a call on 01292 843142 and we will have a quick chat about what you are looking for, answer any early questions, and arrange a time to come out to you.
Your Free Survey and Measure
Before anything gets ordered, one of our team comes out to your home in Troon to take accurate measurements and have a proper look at the opening. This is not a quick glance with a tape measure. We check the reveal, assess the current frame, look at the threshold, and talk through your options in a way that makes sense for your particular property.
There is no charge for this visit and no pressure to commit on the day. A lot of homeowners come in with one style in mind and leave with a clearer picture of what actually works for their space and budget. That conversation at your home is where the real decisions get made.
Choosing the Right Patio Doors for Your Home
There are a few different routes depending on how you use the space. Sliding patio doors are a solid choice if the outside area is tight, because they need no swing clearance and still let in a generous amount of light. French doors open outwards as a pair and suit homes with a step down to the garden, creating a wide open feel for indoor to outdoor living. Bi-fold doors fold back across themselves and can open up almost the full width of a wall, with configurations ranging from two panels to seven and spanning up to around six metres.
Both uPVC and aluminium frames are available. uPVC is low maintenance and offers strong thermal performance at a sensible price. Aluminium frames are slimmer, which means more glass and less frame in your view, and they carry a modern, sharp finish that suits newer builds particularly well. Colours cover everything from classic white and anthracite grey through to black, cream, and a range of woodgrain effects. Inside and outside can be finished differently if that suits your interior.
All glazing comes with A rated double glazed sealed units as standard. The units include argon gas filling and warm edge spacer bars, which reduce cold spots around the edges of the glass and help keep heat inside your home where it belongs. Every door also includes multi-point locking, anti-lift devices, and toughened safety glass across the full panel.
Manufacturing and Lead Times
Once you have confirmed your order, your doors go into production. Lead times vary depending on the style and specification, but most installations are booked in within a few weeks of the order being placed. We will give you a confirmed fitting date before you commit, so there are no vague timescales or open-ended waits. You will always know where things stand.
Everything is manufactured to the measurements taken at your survey, so when the doors arrive on site they are built for your opening specifically. There is no adapting on the day or making do with something close but not quite right.
What to Expect on Fitting Day
Our fitting team will arrive at the agreed time and get straight to work. The old frame and doors are removed carefully, the opening is cleaned up, and the new frame is fitted and levelled before the door panels go in. For most standard patio door installations, the job is completed within a single day, though larger bi-fold installations can occasionally run into a second morning depending on the width and panel count.
The team works cleanly and tidies up at the end of the job. All old materials are removed from your property. Before they leave, they will walk you through how the locks work, how to adjust the rollers if needed, and what to look out for during the first few months of use. Nothing gets left unclear.
Aftercare and Your 10 Year Guarantee
Every patio door installation carried out by Troon Windows And Doors comes with a full ten year guarantee covering both the product and the installation. If anything is not right, you contact us directly and we come back out to sort it. There is no call centre involved, no long waits on hold, and no being passed around. You deal with the same local team that fitted the doors in the first place.
Day to day, the doors need very little from you. An occasional wipe down of the frames and a light application of oil to the rollers or hinges once a year will keep everything running smoothly. The uPVC and aluminium frames do not need painting or retreating at any point.
To get the conversation started, call us on 01292 843142. We cover Troon and the surrounding area, and we are happy to talk through what you have in mind before you book anything in.
